Suspected armed gang leader, 14-year-old boy apprehended in Delta, firearms recovered

The police in Delta State, have arrested a suspected notorious armed robber simply known as Godswill and his teenage cohort, a 14-year-old boy named Gift, for their involvement in a local crime ring.

The suspects were arrested in 3rd Marine quarters in Enerhen, near Warri, the commercial hub of the state.

It was gathered that, upon hearing about the arrest, other members of the criminal group fled the area.

Police sources disclosed that Godswill, who has been transferred to the State Police Command, had previously been causing havoc in Warri and its environs with his gang members.

The arrest followed a confession by the young boy, Gift, who was apprehended during an operation conducted by local vigilantes and subsequently handed over to the police.

He revealed Godswill as the leader of the group and admitted to the murder of six people, including a vigilante who was recently killed during a robbery at 1st Marine Gate.

Three firearms were seized from the suspects at the time of their arrest.

DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, when reached for comments, indicated his intention to release a statement about the incident.
