From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

The Supreme Court will on Friday deliver judgement on the Kano governorship election dispute between Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP)and Nasiru Gawuna Yusuf.of the All Progressives Congress ( APC).

This was contained in a notice issued by the Supreme Court in Abuja to the parties in the suit on Wednesday.

A five-member panel of the Supreme Court led by Justice John Inyang Okoro had in December reserved judgement on the electoral dispute.

It could be further recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)had returned Abba Kabir Yusuf the winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state, having polled a total of 1,019,602 votes against his opponent 890,705 votes.

However, the APC challenged the results of the election at the tribunal, which eventually nullified Yusufs victory, after deducting 165,616 votes from the total votes cast in his favour.

Dissatisfied with the judgement,Yusuf approached the Court of Appeal, which also affirmed the judgement of the lower court against him.

Again, not satisfied, Yusuf approached the Supreme Court, which is due to deliver its judgment in the case on Friday. END.
