Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to adopt a more aggressive approach when they face Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in their second international friendly on Monday, following a closely contested encounter between both sides in Ikenne-Remo on Friday.
Head Coach Justine Madugu revealed on Sunday that the nine-time African champions will be more purposeful in attack as they continue preparations for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Falcons secured a 2-1 victory in the first friendly, with veteran striker Asisat Oshoala converting a penalty before midfielder Toni Payne added a second goal. Senegal pulled one back late in the match, scoring with four minutes remaining.

Monday’s return fixture at the Remo Stars Sports Complex offers both teams another opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of the continental showpiece.
Nigeria and Senegal last met in a WAFCON qualifying tie in 2016, when the Falcons advanced 3-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the first leg and a 2-0 victory in the return fixture.
At the forthcoming tournament in Morocco, Nigeria will be chasing a record-extending 11th continental crown. The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi. Senegal will compete in Group A with hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for July 25 to August 16 in Morocco, will also serve as a qualification pathway to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The top four teams will earn automatic qualification for the finals in Brazil, while the fifth-placed side will advance to an intercontinental playoff for a chance to secure a World Cup berth.
