Super Falcons of Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon continued with their impressive form this year after beating New Zealand 3-0 in an international friendly encounter.
Going into this game, coach Randy Waldrum promised that his wards were determined to win so as to put them on the right frame ahead of the coming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian ladies started the duel well and they almost opened scoring in the fourth minute though Asisat Oshoala who was set up by Ajibade, but the Barcelona star missed the chance.
Three minutes later, the hosts had their own chance to score, but Super Falcons would have their goalkeeper Nnadozie to thank who produced incredible save.
After all the efforts, Super Falcons eventually got the breakthrough in the 34th minute through captain, Onome Ebi who fired home a cross from Alozie. The first half ended with the Nigerian girls taking a 1-0 lead into the dressing room.
On resumption for the second half, Super Falcons came out aggressive and they waited for only four minutes before netting their second goal through Jennifer Onyi Echegini.
The international friendly tie eventually ended 3-0 in favour of the Super Falcons with Desire Oparanozie netting the third goal at the death.
