Stop cursing your leaders, clergy warns Nigerians

A Clergy, Prophet Sam Olanrewaju, has warned Nigerians against cursing their leaders if they want the country to progress.

He warned those cursing President Bola Tinubu and other leaders, saying it is only prayer that can turn the fortune of the country around.

Speaking at Ilesa, Osun state, at a programme titled “Royal Gathering,” organized by The God of Truth Evangelical Ministry, Sunday, the clergy insisted that curse can not make things work better except prayer.

“My advice to Nigerians is that we should stop cursing our leader. We must pray for them. You do not need to curse them.
Some things are hiding for them before they get to the position. That is why they can not fulfill some of their promises. What they meet may decide what they do. No leader does not have good intentions,” Olanrewaju said.

He also cautioned religious leaders and traditional rulers to abstain from government and allow politicians to do the work of governance.

He said the traditional leaders should work for the peace and progress of their respective towns while religious leaders should lead their congregations with teachings and fear of God.

He maintained that traditional rulers and religious leaders have a role to play in the fight against kidnapping and other menace, saying that the involvement of the leaders has prevented them from playing their normal role in the community.

“The men of God should abstain from government and traditional rulers should move back. They only need to support the government with prayer. The monarchs control the town and men of God control the congregation. Kidnapping will stop if we all play our roles diligently.

“If we start praying for our leaders, things will change for the better. If Lagosians are saying Lagos will not be bad and Lagos continues to be good, you should know that there is power in the word and prayer. Aregbesola came to Osun with a slogan that Osun would be good. These are good things we should adhere to,” Olanrewaju said.

He explained that God spoke to him to gather the leaders in Osun, both traditional leaders, and politicians, and pray for them, hence the programme.
