Stanley Boateng appointed Assistant Coach of Nigeria’s D’Tigress

The Nigeria Basketball Federation has announced the appointment of Stanley Boateng as assistant coach of the senior women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Boateng will join the technical crew led by head coach Rena Wakama, who has steered the team to significant milestones, including historic performances at the Olympics and AfroBasket successes.

His addition is expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise in player development to the squad.

In early reactions, Boateng expressed excitement about the role, reportedly stating that “Wearing Nigeria across my chest is bigger” than anything he has experienced before.

Wakama, who made history as the first female head coach of D’Tigress and has guided the team to notable achievements including becoming the first African coach (male or female) to lead a team to the Olympic quarterfinals now leads an expanded technical team.

The appointment comes at a time when D’Tigress continues to build on its reputation as one of Africa’s powerhouse women’s basketball programs.
