Founder and Group Managing Director of Nedcomoaks Group, Dr. Kennedy Okonkwo, has called on stakeholders in the real estate industry to collaborate in ensuring that the lofty standards required to deliver qualitative and safe housing for the African continent are met.

Speaking at the second edition of the Unleashed 4 Takeover Conference, held in Lagos, Okonkwo said regulatory agencies alone cannot ensure safe practices in the industry.

“The job of ensuring that our built environment is safe and solid does not reside only in the government or developers. It resides with everybody. From the community to the clients, to the government agencies, to the government, and to the people, everybody has a role to play in ensuring that our communities are safe,” he said.

Addressing developers and regulators, Okonkwo underscored the need to observe due diligence in ensuring that building materials in the market meet regulatory standards. In addition, he noted that most of the iron on sale in the markets needs to be updated.

Introducing his company’s latest real estate offering, Citadel Views Estate, powered solely by the Sun,  Okonkwo emphasised the need for realtors to be innovative as they proffer solutions to the world’s housing and environmental challenges.

“Citadel Views Estate is our response to what’s happening in the world today. The city represents the future of the company. It’s time for all of us to look into how we solve the global energy crisis,” he said.

He encouraged attendees to keep their wheels of innovation moving at all times.

“The dilemma for entrepreneurs is who disrupts you? Do you want to disrupt yourself, or do you want your competitors to disrupt you? It is essential that you disrupt yourself,” he said.

The conference brought together industry leaders and reputable international speakers to explore the theme “Reshaping real estate in Africa.”

About 5,000 people attended the free hybrid event.

, with almost 2,000 physically present at the conference venue, making it Africa’s largest real estate event.
