Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Small Scale Enterprise (SSE) Lab, Desola Jimmy-Eboma, has reaffirmed his commitment to cultural preservation, innovation, supporting small businesses and investing in sustainable legacy to boost the economy .

Jimmy-Eboma made the remark yesterday during the launch of the SSE lab and manufacturing business accelerator (MBA) business showers held in Lagos, where she noted that Nigeria’s creative arts, tantalising cuisine and  dynamic fashion industry were ready to be uplifted by small-scale manufacturing.

Themed, “From Vision to Venture: Unleashing Entrepreneurial Potential,” the event focused on the transformative journey from business ideation to successful venture creation.

She noted that the programme was part of SSE Lab’s broader goal to foster sustainable economic growth through MSMEs and support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nigeria.

“We can transform local materials into products cherished both locally and globally, reduce our dependence on imports and build a sustainable, production-based economy from the ground up.”

The SSE Lab founder further announced that the Cohort 2 of the MBA programme will begin in just  a few weeks, encouraging everyone to sign up and “gift your communities the opportunity to join us at the Cohort 2 business showers by March 2025.

“There, real products and innovations will be launched and celebrated, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of yet another group of remarkable entrepreneurs.”

The SSE Lab is an innovative platform designed to empower small-scale entrepreneurs with the tools, resources and mentorship they need to build sustainable businesses.

Founded in 2023, SSE Lab supports aspiring and existing MSMEs in transforming their business ideas into market-ready products, contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth and job creation.

“Our flagship programme, the MBA, is a 12-week intensive course that guides entrepreneurs through the process of validating, developing and scaling their production-based businesses. The MBA Business Showers is the culmination of this programme, where participants present their business outcomes to potential investors and stakeholders.

She noted that the showcase was a testament to the potential to drive real, meaningful change.

“We are planting the seeds of our shared future by supporting small businesses and MSMEs, and investing in a sustainable legacy for Nigeria’s economy.

“Here, we are building success not just through profits but through the positive impact we can have on our communities.”

In his address, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, promised to continue to nurture a culture of entrepreneurship by providing MSMEs with the resources, mentorship and networks they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world. Sanwo-olu noted that the theme was not only timely but also resonates with the state’s agenda, adding that Lagos has always been a land of opportunities, a place where dreams are nurtured and visions transformed into impactful ventures.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs Hauwa Adeeyo, the governor said the state has numerous stories of ambitious entrepreneurs, to whom Lagos provided the fertile environment to turn their dreams into huge success, adding that today’s MSMEs could become huge corporations, playing a pivotal role in this narrative, driving not only economic expansion but also innovation, employment and community development.
