Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has raised concerns over gender imbalance in the list of commissioner-nominees sent for clearance by the Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
He noted that among the eight commissioner-nominees cleared by the House, only one was a female.
The governor had requested for the clearance of the nominees, which was acted upon by the House through its Committee on Rules, Business and Government House.
The lawmakers considered the report of the committee which had 11 findings and one single recommendation before their confirmation.
Explaining further on the findings, Agbebaku said all the nominees were indigenous, competent and experienced, and are all qualified to occupy the positions of commissioners.
