The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has raised concern over the wave of insecurity, especially the killings of soldiers.
It condemned the apparent impunity with which criminal elements operate across all regions of the country thereby, calling on President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate stronger political will and decisiveness in addressing the crisis.
This was contained in a communique at the end of its 25th National Executive Committee meeting held yesterday.
“The continuous loss of lives, including those of gallant military personnel, is unacceptable and demands immediate and effective action,” it said.
The communique signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Egbeola Wale Martins, said the NEC ratified the timetable for the conduct of congresses, primaries and the National Convention.

He said the ward congresses would hold (21st May), Local Government Congresses (22nd May), State Congresses (23rd May), House of Assembly Primaries (24th May), House of Representatives & Senate Primaries (25th May), Governorship Primaries (26th May), and the National Convention/Presidential Primary (30th May)
According to him the NEC approved the nomination fees for various elective offices, saying Expression of Interest would be free (b) House of Assembly (₦1.5m), House of Representatives (₦3m), Senate (₦8m), Governorship (₦20m) and Presidential – ₦50m.
“While the Expression of Interest Form remains free for all aspirants, the NEC further approved a 50 percent concession on nomination fees for young aspirants below 40 years, women and persons living with disabilities. The sale of nomination forms commences immediately.
“In consideration of the political peculiarities in Anambra State, the NEC resolved that the position of State Chairman be zoned to the Central Senatorial District, while the position of State Secretary remains in the Southern Senatorial District.
“The NEC approved a 3-Day Membership Drive Challenge aimed at significantly increasing party registration nationwide. All State Chairmen and stakeholders are enjoined to actively participate and mobilize for the success of this initiative.
“The NEC approved that elections at all levels within the Party shall be conducted using both consensus and direct primary methods, in accordance with the Party’s constitution and the Electoral Act,” he added.
