The re-election bid of Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has received a boost with leaders of thought in the South East drumming support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and incumbent governor for a second term.
The leaders who made their position in a statement described Uzodimma, who is chairman South East Governors’ Forum as well as chairman Progressives Governors’ Forum as “an asset to Imo State and the South East as a whole.
They also stated that Uzodimma has out-performed all the other past governors of the state in development projects, even as he has “contact and influence in national affairs”, and should therefore be re-elected for continuity.
The statement read in part, “The November 11, 2023 Governorship election in Imo State is holding in a matter of days. The incumbent governor and Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum, and Chairman, Progressives Governors’ Forum is seen by the electorate as an asset of Imo State and indeed South East considering his performance which outweighs previous administrations, his capacity and competence in the handling of local and national matters, and his contact and influence in national affairs.
“The people of Imo State are of the opinion that they cannot gamble with the huge opportunities created for development in Imo State under Sen. Hope Uzodimma. The good roads now in Imo State, the new face of the capital city, the progressive change in the social-economic history of the state.
“Again, the leaders of South East, the Governors, Senators and Ministers from South East are firmly behind the re- election of Senator Hope Uzodimma. To them, Uzodimma is an asset to Imo State and South East in general”.
