Soludo, CLO commiserate with Onitsha traders fire victims

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has commiserated with victims of  Onitsha Main Market fire incident that razed down their shops and warehouses.
Soludo expressed sadness over the early morning fire on Tuesday that razed a two-storey building within the main market leading to loss of goods.
The Press Secretary to the Governor Mr. Christian Abriume in a statement said that the governor  reiterated the need for all to be extra vigilant in preventing outbreak of fire incidences in the markets, offices and even at homes.
He commended the efforts of the Fire-fighters and other security agencies who battled to contain the inferno stopping it from spreading to the entire market.
Governor Soludo further assured that government will investigate the incident with a view to preventing future occurrence.
Also, Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Anambra State Branch has sympathized with traders at Main Market who lost their goods during horrendous fire inferno that ravaged two story building section of the in which traders lost millions of naira.
The Chairman of CLO in the state Mr. Vincent Ezekwueme in a statement tagged “when one suffers directly all of us suffers indirectly” lamented that just few months after Kano street market fire disaster this one happened at this unprecedented economic hardship necessitated by naira redesign, high cost of petroleum products, hyperinflation and insecurity.
“We commend prompt visit to the scene by the state deputy governor, but Anambra state government that should takes step further by payment of adequate compensation to the victims, provision of urgent palliatives measures and renovation of the dilapidated building.
“We equally solicits supports and help from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) legislators both Federal and state representing the affected area and public spirited individuals to help in ameliorating the sufferings, plights and predicament of the victims.
“Anambra state government should reactive State Fire Service to make it more functional and alive to her responsibilities.
“They should also constitute Committee made of men and women of impeccable integrity to unravel circumbstances surrounding incessant fire disaster in our markets in order to forsetall future occurrences” CLO stated.
