The Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria (SiBAN) has categorically denied recent reports alleging the suspension or expulsion of its President, Obinna Iwuno. In a statement issued Monday and signed by its President and Barr. Mela Claude Ake, member of the Board of Trustees, SiBAN emphasized its legal status as a duly registered organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Federal Ministry of Trades and Investment. The association also clarified that there is no internal crisis within SiBAN, and that its leadership, including the President, Executive Council, and Board of Trustees, are working collaboratively to promote the growth and development of the blockchain industry in Nigeria.
SiBAN further condemned the actions of a faceless group that has been spreading false information and attempting to undermine the association’s legitimate operations. The statement described the group’s claims as “a joke taken too far” and emphasized that such actions are counterproductive to the industry’s progress.
The association reiterated its commitment to addressing the numerous scams and fraudulent activities that have plagued the blockchain space. SiBAN also stressed the importance of strengthening regulatory frameworks and promoting transparency to create a more secure and trustworthy environment for investors and businesses.
SiBAN urged the public to be aware of the faceless group and to avoid interacting with them, as doing so may pose significant risks. The association also called on those with legitimate concerns to seek legal redress through the appropriate channels.
