Showtime

The Showtime Youths Cup has reached a pivotal stage, with the Round of 16 set to deliver high-stakes action as teams battle for a coveted spot in the quarter-finals.

What began with 50 teams has now been whittled down to 16, making each fixture a must-win encounter. The knockout phase resumes on Saturday, March 29, with Accurate facing Sam City, while Middlewell takes on Anthony in what promises to be an electrifying contest.

Sunday’s fixtures will see B-Unit FC lock horns with Blue Point, while JS Sport clashes with Emiloju. The competition continues into the following weekend, as Chekas meets Varsity on Saturday, April 5, before God’s Glory goes up against R2 Finesse.

The last set of Round of 16 matches is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, featuring Paslaw FC against Shuffle, followed by a highly anticipated showdown between Bariga FC and Oskey.

Adding to the tournament’s prestige, international scouts have arrived in Lagos to monitor the competition, with more expected in the coming weeks. Unlike many grassroots tournaments, all matches are being recorded and sent to global scouting networks, providing young players with a rare opportunity for professional exposure.

The stakes are high, not only for recognition but also for financial rewards. The tournament champions will claim a grand prize of ₦11.5 million, while the runners-up will take home ₦6 million. Individual brilliance will also be rewarded, with the top scorer, best player, and best goalkeeper each receiving ₦1.5 million.

With every team aware that a single mistake could cost them the title, intensity levels on the pitch are at an all-time high. As the competition moves toward its grand finale, the Showtime Youths Cup continues to cement its reputation as one of Nigeria’s premier youth football tournaments, offering both recognition and life-changing opportunities for emerging talents.
