Vice President Kashim Shettima, while on his Umrah pilgrimage at the Holy Mosque of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, fervently prayed for Nigeria’s peace and stability.

According to a statement by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, the visit, which took place from December 16 to 19, 2024, included prayers for divine guidance for the nation’s leaders and citizens. Shettima stated: “May Allah grant our leaders wisdom, patience, and the generosity of Muhammad Rasulullah in all their dealings.”

The Vice President also prayed for social harmony and tranquility across Nigeria, emphasising the importance of effective governance. “Let there be peace, tranquility, and prosperity in our nation,” he prayed.

Shettima’s visit to Saudi Arabia followed his attendance at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility in Dubai, where he represented President Bola Tinubu. The facility, owned by Oriental Energy Limited, marks a significant investment in Nigeria’s oil sector.

While in Saudi Arabia, the Vice President was also scheduled to meet with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah to discuss co-financing arrangements for Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones aimed at enhancing agricultural development in Nigeria. However, the meeting has been postponed to a later date.

He is expected to return to Nigeria on Friday.
