Serena the GOAT and the gender equality advocate

Emma Okocha

Before a very friendly Royalty she was in the finals of the 2018 Wimbledon. Beastie Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex was escorted to the flush green grass court by the next Queen of England. With a lot of genteel courtesies they breezed into the Royal Box. In spite of the traditional protocols the scarlet very distinguished blue blood Guests went all out for Serene Williams.

The GOAT who had won the Wimbledon seven times was coming back to the greatest tennis stage, the summit of the ATP tournaments after a perilous childbirth. If she beat the ambitions of the German southpaw finalist Angelique Kerber on the other side Serena would right from that 2018 Wimbledon, would have beaten the only remaining record as established by the Australian Margaret Court. Court to this day holds the unbeatable record of having won 64 Grand slam events (24 Singles 19 Doubles, 21 Mixed Doubles), standing out for both the female and male tennis players.

Before the world camera before the British Royalty, Serena once again choked in the finals and was overwhelmed by the German she had beaten in her last win in Wimbledon before her baby.

In that very disappointing finals, her expectations, record chasing psycho-surging stress, in and outside the Court distractions, all conspired and like toxins in the body demobilized her movement. She could not serve, could not make the peculiar angular returns and when she rushed the net the German responded with cross courts and crisp down the line winners.

The GOAT lost the English campaign and the US Opens in New York presented the next and the right environment for her to recharge and claim her last quest. Reassure her time and place in the Athletic history of mankind. The US Opens, the New York maddening cosmopolitan crowd, the city of Liberals, hallowing citadel of all comers matched her badass ghetto brazen ferocity.

That “untennis” unconventional threatening attitude was the intimidating weapon and the winning forte employed by the Williams sisters over the years to overcome their opponents. Coupled with this recent cultivated urge to overtake the Margaret Court’s Grand Slam records; propelled by their natural instinct to hit the ball very hard and protect their equally outstanding recorded tiaras; ready and prepared to engage and destroy the ambitions of emerging very strong gifted girl challengers, beginning to elevate their seeding with a probable win or a cracker collision down to the match point until someday loses her scalp…. Suddenly more than the extravaganza of the Olympics , the stupendous spectacle of the World Cup, or even the month watering Athletic explosion of American Gridiron Football, Tennis with Serena or her sister Venus has skyrocketed the arena, anytime, anywhere the Sisters wield the racquet against the other lady on the red corner at the other end of the court!

New York, New York… here I come yelled the greatest of all time after the Wimbledon blow out by Kerber.

From the Kennedy airport Serena went straight to hang out with Jay-Z and wife. She had posted her racquets to the Duchess at Windsor and decided to outdo the crazy Beyonce doing the pregnant tricot bounce steps.

Before lady Bee who needed help would reach her former Destiny Child mates, Cole etc…. like a fairy tale Ballerina Serena found a ballet fashion Guru. She put on an unsexy lacy hanger across one side of her bulging breast feeding breast.

Day one of the US Opens greeted us with startling black colors of a ballet modeling Serena. I didn’t like they modeling Serena. I didn’t like those designs and when the black went with other combinations I thought the GOAT would be distracted by a lot, like the fashion crazy Eagles at the last World Cup.

I thought her beefy heavy girth was not suited for the European Ballerina toga.

All in all Serena is a revolutionary. See how she took the microphone stopped the rioting crowd at Arthur Ashe stadium. No American President, Governor or Mayor of that Empire state could have commanded such a respect. She ordered the crowd “without being rude” to stop booing … and luckily the crowd obeyed her!the minute she lost to Osaka the Japanese new Champion of the US Opens. Serena by pointing to the face of her Empire, calling him “thief” is sassy.

She has her way of expressing her disagreement in the face of injustice. If she wants to overtake Margaret Court’s records she has to concentrate to play this game, observe the rules. Forget the royal connections she is not one of them. Take the baby to the nanny and father, stay focused and most prepare her stay calm and find a psychologist to help her not freeze on final matches. Tennis is a Royal game introduced to us by the Kings of France. Serena is the Queen of the ghetto fighting for equality for all mankind.
