Deputy President of the Senate Senator Barau I. Jibrin has mourned the passing of Dr Bature Abdulaziz, one of the foremost businessmen in Kano State.

The deceased, who was the National President of the Harmonised Traders Union, the President of the National Patriotic Elders, and the President of Kantin Kwari Market, died on Saturday following an illness in Kano.

In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau said the deceased was an iconic figure in Kano’s business community.

“Dr Bature Abdulaziz, MON, was not only a successful businessman but also an institution. When he was president of Kantin Kwari Market, he provided purposeful leadership that strengthened commerce, created opportunities for thousands of traders, and enhanced Kano’s historic position as a commercial nerve centre in the country,” he said.

Senator Barau, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the leadership and members of Kantin Kwari Market, the Nigerian Marketers Association, and the entire Kano business community.

“I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus. May Allah grant his family, business partners, and the entire Kano business community the strength to bear this great loss,” he said.
