Security guard arraigned over alleged theft of generator worth N2m

A 26-year-old man, Muhammed Usman, was on Friday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged negligence and theft of a generator valued at N2 million.

Usman whose address was not given is being charged with negligence, stealing, and felony to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that Usman committed the offences at about 2.30p.m. on December 20 at Sauril Global Services, Agogo Igbala, Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo said that the defendant negligently allowed thieves to break into the company and stole two Elepac generators valued at N2 million.

“The defendant conspired with others to steal two Elepac generators belonging to Sauril Global Services,” he said.

The prosecutor further stated that the offences contravened Sections 242, 287, and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum N1 million with two sureties, each in like sum.

He said that one of the sureties must be a company director and adjourned the case until February 19, for mention.
