Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents that 2026 will witness the delivery of more transformational projects across key sectors of the state’s economy.

The governor gave the assurance on Sunday at the 26th Lagos State Annual Thanksgiving Service held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island.

Speaking at the event, themed “Grateful for Unfailing Mercies,” drawn from Lamentations 3:22–23, Sanwo-Olu said his administration would intensify efforts in transportation, agriculture, health, energy, environment and infrastructure to further improve the quality of life of Lagosians.

He said the state government remained committed to completing and inaugurating all ongoing infrastructural projects across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos within the year, stressing that development under his administration would continue to be inclusive and people-oriented.

According to the governor, Lagos has continued to record steady progress despite economic and social challenges, attributing the gains to strategic planning, the resilience of residents and support from successive administrations.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the THEMES Plus Agenda and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Sanwo-Olu emphasised that sustained collaboration between the Federal Government and subnational governments was critical to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reached citizens at the grassroots.

He expressed gratitude to God for His mercies over Lagos State and commended President Tinubu for policy interventions under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said were already yielding positive results across the country.

Reflecting on the past year, the governor sympathised with families who lost loved ones and praised the professionalism and bravery of first responders during emergencies and disasters.

He also lauded religious and traditional leaders for their prayers and mediation roles, which he said had helped to sustain peace and unity in the state.

The governor urged leaders at all levels to support the Tinubu-led Federal Government in the interest of national stability and prosperity, while calling on residents to continue backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and federal levels.

He also encouraged Lagosians to participate in the forthcoming electronic registration exercise of the party.

The thanksgiving service attracted several dignitaries, including the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; former Deputy Governor, Mr. Femi Pedro; former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji; and Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin.

Others in attendance were members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, heads of security agencies, political, religious and traditional leaders.

Clergymen at the event offered prayers for President Tinubu and his family, Governor Sanwo-Olu and his administration, as well as for peace, security and divine protection for Lagos State and Nigeria.

The service was enlivened by gospel performances from artistes such as Yinka Alaseyori and Kunle Adeolu, drawing a large crowd of worshippers.
