Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State recently paid a courtesy visit to Charterhouse Lagos, a prestigious educational institution located in Ogombo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The governor was accompanied by a distinguished entourage, including the commissioner for basic and secondary education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun; deputy chief of staff, Mr. Samuel Egube; commissioner for health, Prof. Akin Abayomi; and Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo, Oba of Ogombo. Sanwo-Olu was warmly welcomed to the school’s state-of-the-art campus.
During a guided tour of the school’s cutting-edge facilities, Sanwo-Olu interacted with students and faculty, engaging in insightful discussions and observing the institution’s learner-centred educational approach. He praised Charterhouse Lagos for its innovation, modern infrastructure, and commitment to nurturing future leaders.
He said: “It’s clearly a wonderful educational institution—well thought out and deeply learner-centred. Charterhouse Lagos has placed students at the heart of its vision. Every aspect of the environment has been designed to foster genuine learning. It is a place where pupils can thrive, and where parents can be confident in the quality of education provided.”
Sanwo-Olu further emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in education, saying: “We commend this level of private sector investment in educational infrastructure. Both public and private institutions have roles to play, and together, we can build a stronger educational ecosystem. I’m here to show support and will be following the progress at Charterhouse Lagos closely.”
The visit culminated in the presentation of a commemorative plaque to the governor, in appreciation of his ongoing support for educational advancement in Lagos State.
John Todd, director of education at Charterhouse Lagos, expressed his gratitude: “It was an absolute honour to host His Excellency and other esteemed guests. Our mission is to provide a transformative learning experience—one that inspires curiosity, builds character, and promotes global awareness. Today’s visit reinforces our commitment to that vision.”
Angela Hencher, chief operations officer, added: “Charterhouse Lagos is more than a school; it is a symbol of our dedication to educational excellence. We are proud to be contributing to Nigeria’s educational evolution and look forward to the journey ahead.”
