Philip Grenz, the longtime agent of Hollywood veteran Sam Neill, has revealed the cause of the actor’s demise.
Daily Sun reported that Neill, known for playing Dr Alan Grant in the Jurassic World films, died on Monday in Sydney, Australia, in what was called “sudden and unexpected”.
Per a BBC report, Grenz spoke to the bereaved family to correct “inaccurate and outright falsehoods” in the media. He decided to share an update on the cause of death afterwards.
According to the agent, Neill died of pneumonia, having battled and defeated lymphoma in a valiant fight.

“As Sam Neill’s longtime rep, I spoke with his family and wish to clarify some details for his fans.
“Sam passed away from pneumonia. Prior to becoming sick, Sam had valiantly fought and beaten lymphoma through a new treatment called CAR-T therapy,” Grenz noted in his statement.
Speaking further, he added that Neill filmed four projects back-to-back in the past year. The movies will be released “within the coming months.”
“I’d like to thank those who were truly close to Sam for considering his privacy with the respect he earned and his loved ones need and deserve during this immeasurably difficult time,” Grenz said.
