Rotary Club of Lagos West inducts Akinsanya as its 41 president

It was splendid and ceremonious as Omolara Adewunmi Akinsanya received her baton of office as the 41st President of Rotary Club of Lagos West, District 9110.

The event included Induction of 2023 – 2024 Board Members the Club and the Fund raising ceremony presided over by the District Governor of Rotary International, District 9110, Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, past district governors, past presidents of the club, Rotarians and guests from all walks of life.

Ejezie, in her remarks pointed out that Rotarians support humanity while supplementing government efforts through the provision of social amenities, supporting health and education sectors including activities that will help the environment against climate change.

The guest speaker, PAO Adegbuyi, who spoke on “Population explosion of major cities In Nigeria: A Rotarian viewpoint” posited that the solution to mass migration from villages, towns to major cities will require government, private sector and non-governmental agencies intervention in areas including establishment of primary and secondary schools with good classrooms and qualified teachers, exploration and exploitation of raw materials found in those towns and villages, location of relevant industries in the villages and towns which will in turn create employment for the inhabitants of such villages and towns, provision of waste management and drainage systems, establishment of tertiary institutions with basic educational infrastructure and provision of toilets, electricity, potable water, health care, availability of hospitals, dispensaries etc.

He urged those in power to adopt the four way test of the club as their Bible and apply them judiciously in decision making and every other areas of governance, this will be beneficial to the country.

In her post investiture acceptance speech, Adewunmi said with the coopersstion of Rotarians and the guests support, they would strive to build access to clean water and sanitation, promote maternal and child health, eradicate diseases, foster peace and conflict resolution, enhance education and literacy, empower local economy and safeguard the environment.

He urged everyone to collaborate with the club on projects that will uplift the underprivileged, support education and promote health and well – being.

She later presented awards to some notable personalities and friends of the club for their good will and financial support to the club.
