The Rotary Club of Amuwo Prestige, under the leadership of Rotarian Jessica Onyike, United President 2025/2026, has donated a new borehole to Progress Nursery and Primary School, 7th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos State.

In her welcome address, Adeyeye Pearse Bukola, head teacher of the school, commended the Rotary Club of Amuwo Prestige for their quick intervention in the provision of the borehole, noting that water had been a major problem for a long time in the school.

She noted that the Rotary Club of Amuwo Prestige has been of immense assistance to the school, and they were optimistic that the club’s benevolence would continue in the future.

In her remarks, Rotarian Jessica Onyike, President of the club, said Rotary decided to drill a borehole for the school in order to assist pupils and teachers in maintaining personal hygiene, which is paramount to the club.

The club’s president further announced that the borehole was connected to the teachers’ toilet for use, even as she admonished the beneficiaries that she hoped the facility would be put to proper use by the school.

Additionally, Korede Samuel, secretary, Parents’ and Teachers’ Forum of the school, on behalf of the parents, expressed gratitude to the club for the provision and inauguration of the borehole, under the leadership of Rotarian Jessica Onyike.

“This is a remarkable demonstration of service, compassion and commitment to community development,” she said. “Your impact goes beyond today. It secures a better and healthier future for our pupils

“Indeed, this project stands as a legacy of love, kindness and purposeful leadership.”

Thereafter, the inauguration ceremony was performed by Rotarian PAG Umoh, who represented the District Governor, Prince Henry Olubowale Akinyele.

Before cutting the tape to declare the borehole ready for use, PAG Umoh explained that Rotary Club has seven areas of focus, of which the activity of the day, water and hygiene, comes into play as the borehole would  assist the school in their personal hygiene.

He appreciated the club for the good work, saying pupils would use the clean running water to wash their hands and observe proper hygiene.

The pupils later recited a welcome address, while the cultural troupe entertained the audience with good dance steps.
