Members of the Rotary Club of Festac recently donated delivery kits to over 30 expectant mothers.
The impactful event was held at the Festac Local Government Clinic, 41 Road, which doubles as its Primary Healthcare Centre as well as Oluremi Tinubu Health Centre.
The visit to the health facility was led by Chichi Mackings-Nezianya, President of Rotary Club of Festac Central; Joy Omoaka, immediate past president; Francisca Ibikunle, Secretary; Folashade Adara, President-elect; Chima Josephine Ebere, Treasurer; Amarachi Lawal, Project Chair and other member of the club.
On hand to receive members of the club were Mrs Apex Boika, Head Nursing Services and Mrs Uhegbe of the same department.
The Club President, Mackings -Nezianya, informed the expectant mothers that the Rotary Club of Festac Central visited to support their pregnancy journey.
«Rotary Club is devoted to service above self to humanity, all over the world.
“As Rotarians, our area of focus for the month of July is on Maternal and Child-Health Care Project, hence our visit to partner with all the expectant mothers on ante-natal visit to this health centre today,” she said.
Thereafter, the Club President along with Mrs Apex Boika, Head Nursing Services, distributed the maternity delivery kits to the over 30 expectant mothers.
In a brief chat with the media after the distribution of the delivery kits, the club President, said: «Todays event marks one of Rotary›s areas of focus which is for material and child health. Every year, every month, Rotary usually has functions to execute. So this programme is about maternal and child care, as we love helping people and giving service to humanity, and putting smiles on their faces.”
In her advice to the beneficiaries of the delivery kits, the President said: “Rotary believes that every mother deserves access to quality care, and every child deserves a good start.”
The President also highlighted on some of the projects that the club had lined up for the year and on monthly basis respectively. These include, membership drive, basic Education among others.
She also announced that her investiture had been scheduled for October 31, 2026. Some of the activities lined up, according to her, include induction of some members, invitation of guests, and fund raising.
Treasurer of the Club, Chima Josephine Ebere, told the beneficiaries: “As a Club, it took us a lot to achieve this project, and the beautiful thing about it all, is that we were able to touch all the expectant mothers, and that is our life, motto and logo.”
One of the expectant mothers testified that last year, she was a beneficiary of the same maternity delivery kits from the club, while noting that she was again a beneficiary this year. She expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Festac Central while recalling that the kit she got last year assisted her so much.
