Rocket fire from Lebanon has killed one person near Israel’s northern border, marking the first fatality from cross-border attacks since the latest round of fighting began.
Israeli emergency responders said the victim died after a rocket struck a vehicle, with the prominent Israeli voluntary emergency response organization known as ZAKA confirming the casualty at the scene.
Firefighters reporated that two vehicles were engulfed in flames following what they described as a direct hit, while medics from Magen David Adom said the victim showed no signs of life on arrival.
The Israeli military had earlier detected a launch from Lebanon targeting communities along the northern border, as tensions continue to escalate in the region.

The renewed hostilities are linked to ongoing clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which began firing rockets in response to US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
Since then, Israel has carried out airstrikes and deployed troops into parts of Lebanon, while Hezbollah has continued cross-border attacks.
The latest incident underscores growing fears of a wider regional conflict, as violence spreads beyond Iran and Israel into neighbouring territories.
