The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Benue State Command has partnered with the Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) in the state for improved massive public enlightenment of traffic issues.
The Sector Commander, Ibrahim Abubakar, stated this on Friday when he received the new leadership of the Chapel on a courtesy visit in his office in Makurdi.
Abubakar said the Command would ensure prompt responses to clarification of issues especially as they relates to road crashes adding that the Command was doing everything possible within her powers to reduce road crashes in the atate.
“Iam assuring you that we are going to have higher synergy and cooperation for us all to succeed. We cannot separate ourselves from you because we will have to work together.
“You are the people to project us in whatever we do because our primary function is to reduce road crashes to the barest minimum and by doing this is through adequate public enlightenment.
“Mr Chairman, I am used to journalist calling me at nights. In other states where I have worked, journalists call me even around 1am to confirm incidents”.he said
Earlier, Chairman, Benue Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Emmanuel Antswen, pledged members’ commitment to objective reporting.
Antswen said their visit was to strengthen the existing synergy between the command and the Correspondent’s Chapel in the State and ensure that the Command gets adequate publicity.
“The Command has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Chapel over the years and this visit is to strengthen it for improved objective reporting of activities relating to the Command.
“I’m assuring you that Correspondent’s Chapel members will support you and the Command to succeed,” Anstwen said
