Former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Gabriel Pidomson, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 election in Rivers State after defeating five other aspirants in the party’s primary.
The primary election, conducted across the 319 wards in the state using the Option A4 voting system, saw party members openly casting their votes under the supervision of the ADC National Election Committee.
Pidomson secured a total of 112,068 votes to clinch the ticket, far ahead of other contenders in the exercise held across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
Chairman of the ADC Primary Election Committee in the state, Obaro Uloho, announced the results after collation at the party secretariat in Port Harcourt.
Declaring him winner, Uloho said Pidomson satisfied the constitutional requirements of the party and recorded the highest number of votes cast during the exercise.
Former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo, finished third with 2,369 votes, while Sekonte Davies placed second after polling 16,872 votes.
Other aspirants in the race included Leloonu Nwibubasa, Allen Ezekiel Hart, and Henry Ogbonna.

In his acceptance speech, Pidomson described his emergence as a victory for the people of Rivers State rather than a personal achievement.
“Today, the voice of hope has defeated fear. The voice of unity has defeated division. The voice of the people has defeated political intimidation. And the future has defeated the past,” he said.
The ADC candidate called on party members to unite ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stressing that the focus should now shift from internal competition to building a stronger political movement in the state.
Pidomson also unveiled parts of his agenda, promising improved infrastructure, enhanced security, better healthcare delivery, stable business conditions, and transparent governance if elected.
He assured supporters that his campaign would be driven by ideas and people-focused solutions rather than violence or bitterness.
“Our campaign will not be built on hatred. It will not be built on violence. It will not be built on bitterness,” he stated.
The former Rivers SSG further pledged inclusive governance, promising that no tribe, community, or local government area would be neglected under his leadership.
