A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Toyin Amuzu, has urged Nigerians to resist government policies that continue to impose hardship on them.

Amuzu who was the PDP’s House of Representatives candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2023 election, said that amid the current biting economic hardship, insecurity and widespread unemployment, Nigerians must rise to hold the government accountable in 2026.

He stated this in a chat with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, at the weekend.

He declared that the country’s challenges are no longer abstract figures but daily realities confronting families struggling to survive.

Amuzu said: “Another year has begun, but for millions of Nigerians, yesterday’s suffering has simply followed us into today.

“This is not by fate and it is not by accident. Poverty has been manufactured, managed and sustained by wrong policies, weak governance and misplaced priorities.”

While encouraging Nigerians not to lose faith in the nation, the PDP chieftain emphasised that the prevailing situation in the country is unacceptable in a nation blessed with vast human and natural resources, he added that the “citizens are paying the price for years of economic mismanagement, corruption and lack of accountability.”
