• Abbas appoints Krishi SA, Media & Publicity

House of Representatives, on Thursday, constituted 7 Ad-hoc Committees to ensure the smooth running of the House, pending the constitution of standing committees. Thereafter, the parliament adjourned plenary to July 4.
The speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, who announced the Ad-hoc Committees, at Thursday’s plenary, said they include Selection, Welfare, security and media.
Others are Rules and Business, Legislative Agenda and Ethics and Privileges.
The selection committee, which is saddled with the task of constitution of standing committees, is chaired by the speaker, with the deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu, will serve as deputy chairman. While each of the state caucuses is expected to nominate a member each to serve in the committee.
Also, the Legislative Agenda Committee is chaired by Julius Ihonvbere; while the Media Committee and the Rules and Business Committee will be chaired by Khadirat Abba Ibrahim and Iduma Igariewey respectively. Similarly, Wale Raji will serve as chairman of the Welfare Committee; Olawale Olawuyi, chairman, Ethics and Privileges and Mohammed Danjuma Hassan, security.
Meanwhile, Abbas has appointed Musa Krishi as his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. Abbas, the speaker, in a statement, he personally signed, on Thursday, said the appointment takes effect immediately.
Krishi, a former political editor, Daily Trust Newspaper, was the Chief Press Secretary ( CPS) to the immediate past speaker, Femi Gbjabiamiala. Similarly, Dr Jerry Uhuo was appointed Special Adviser, to the Speaker, on Policy and Strategy.
