The House of Representatives, on Monday , said it introduced a total of 2,747 bills since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June 2023, and passed 363.
The chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, Francis Waive, disclosed this, while journalists, in Abuja, on the activities of the House in the last three years.
According to him, out of the 2,747 bills introduced between June 2023 and June 15, 2026, 57 were executive bills, 95 originated from the Senate, while 2,595 were private members’ bills.
He said 363 bills had been passed by the House, while five were negatived. A further analysis showed that 1,782 bills are awaiting second reading, 323 have been referred to standing committees, 185 are awaiting consideration, and 89 have been consolidated with similar proposals.
The lawmaker, while giving a breakdown of the bills, noted that the House introduced 1,351 bills during its first legislative year. The figure comprised 12 executive bills, 1,336 private members’ bills and three Senate bills. A total of 89 bills were passed during the period.
He added that in second legislative year, the Green chamber introduced 912 bills, consisting of 14 executive bills, 868 private members’ bills and 30 Senate bills and passed 148 bills during the session.
Furthermore, Waive explained , 484 bills were introduced between June 2025 and June 2026. The breakdown showed that 31 were executive bills, 391 were private members’ bills, while 62 originated from the Senate, while 126 bills were passed during the session.
He noted that in the third session, “we dealt with the 2026 Appropriation Act which was passed earlier this year. We made history with the amendment bill for the constitutional amendment for state police.
“In this session we also passed the Electoral Act 2026. Very important bills that we passed in this session. We also have the Tax Act which is a milestone and landmark legislation, the Minimum Wage Act, the NELFUND Act and several other pieces of legislation that touched the lives of ordinary Nigerians.”
The lawmaker added”for Public Accounts Committee reports, this is the first Assembly where PAC reports are being presented, considered and passed on the floor of the House since the return to democracy. It is something the 10th Assembly is proud of.”
