The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has debunked reports that he voted manually during yesterday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

A statement by his Special Assistant, Segun Adeyemi, described the report as “fake news.”

The statement read: “The attention of the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been drawn to a report that he (Minister) voted manually at his PollingUnit 006 in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area in Kwara

South, after the card reader failed to authenticate him.

“This report is patently false and is apparently sponsored by those who are on the verge of losing their political hegemony in Kwara State. The correct report is that the Minister proceeded to cast his vote after his voter’s card was duly authenticated by the card reader, his fingerprints captured and his name and picture identified in the voters’ register.”
