Rensource Energy has overhauled its leadership and business model, rolling out a new board, executive team and strategy aimed at accelerating its expansion across Africa’s fast-growing renewable energy market.
The company said the restructuring signals a decisive shift from project-based solar installations to a full-scale, multi-technology energy platform. It also marks a transition from founder-led management to institutional governance, under a broader continental playbook tagged “Proven in Nigeria, Ready for Africa.”
At the heart of the reset is a reconstituted board made up of seasoned professionals spanning energy, finance, law, technology and infrastructure. Veteran energy executive, Chikezie Nwosu, takes the helm as Chairman, while Dayo Omolokun, assumes the role of Vice Chairman, bringing decades of global finance experience.
Rensource said the changes are designed to close execution gaps, strengthen oversight and deepen leadership capacity as it scales beyond Nigeria.
Nwosu underscored the board’s active role in shaping the company’s next phase.
“The board we have assembled is not ceremonial. Each member brings operational, financial and technical expertise to guide Rensource through its next phase of growth. We have moved from founder-led to institution-led governance. We are building an organisation that will power Africa’s industrial future for decades to come,” he said.
The executive management team is led by Chief Executive Officer, Olorunfemi Fapohunda, alongside Chief Operating Officer, Azizat Gbadegesin, and Chief Financial Officer, Segun Adebayo.
Fapohunda said the transformation reflects a sharper focus on delivering dependable and cost-effective power to businesses.
“This is not the same Rensource of the past. We have new governance, new leadership, new discipline and a new vision. Our focus is simple: help Nigerian businesses replace diesel uncertainty with predictable, affordable, clean power. We finance, build, own and operate. Our clients focus on their core business. That is the Rensource promise,” he said.
Gbadegesin highlighted the company’s operational readiness to scale across markets.
“We have built a scalable operating platform that delivers projects on time, on budget and to specification. With 16 years of energy programme experience across Africa, I am confident that Rensource is now positioned to execute at a level the market has not yet seen. Our 99 per cent uptime target is not an aspiration, it is a standard,” she said.
Beyond leadership changes, Rensource is expanding its offering into a broad suite of energy solutions, including solar photovoltaic systems, battery storage, hybrid systems, hydro, wind, waste-to-energy, electric vehicle charging and carbon credits.
The company said the integrated platform will enable it to deliver cleaner, more reliable power to businesses across Africa, positioning it as a long-term partner in the continent’s energy transition.
