Hon. Remi Bello has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, seeking to represent Agege Constituency I under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration, held on Thursday at Shitta Street in Dopemu, Agege, drew a large turnout of stakeholders, including party leaders from Agege and Orile-Agege, traditional rulers, religious leaders, traders, artisans, and representatives of the Hausa and Igbo communities, many of whom openly endorsed his candidacy.
Speaking at the event, Fatai Jibola commended the growing support for Bello’s ambition and praised the leadership of the party in the area under the Speaker of the Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
Jibola described Bello as a loyal protégé of Obasa, noting that his experience and grassroots engagement make him a strong contender for the seat.
“Remi Bello is a good product and we believe he is capable of representing us effectively,” he said, while also expressing gratitude for what he described as increasing political momentum within the constituency.
In his address, Bello expressed appreciation for the endorsement, describing it as a reflection of collective trust and unity among stakeholders.
He said his ambition is driven by a desire to serve and advance the welfare of residents in the constituency.
“This is not just my ambition—it is a collective movement. With God’s guidance and your support, I will serve with diligence, integrity, and focus on the welfare of our people,” he said.
Also speaking, a youth representative, Sefiu Esan, said the widespread endorsement of Bello cuts across various segments of the community, including traditional institutions, market groups, artisans, and youth organisations.
Esan added that Bello’s consistent engagement with residents and responsiveness to local concerns have earned him credibility and trust, expressing confidence in his ability to build on existing developments in the constituency.
The event concluded with calls for unity among party members and stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming electoral contest.
