Reinstated chairmen in control of Osun LG council – APC clarifies

APC FLAGS

…Says motorcycles donated by reinstated council chairmen

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that the 300 motorcycles donated to the police by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state were purchased by the reinstated local government council chairmen.

The clarification was made by Kola Olabisi, Director of Media and Information for the APC, yesterday.

Olabisi said the motorcycles were bought through the Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun-led ALGON in Osun, describing the gesture as proof that APC officials at the local government level are indeed in place and in control of council affairs.

He said the development also settles arguments about who governs the local government areas in the state, adding that it marks a departure from the period between November 22, 2022 and February 10, 2025, when he claimed the “purported” PDP council chairmen were in office.

Olabisi explained that each local government council had already purchased 10 security motorcycles. He stated that three would be donated to the police in each council, two to the Department of State Services (DSS), two to the Nigerian Civil Defence and Security Corps (NSCDC), one to vigilante groups, one to hunters, and one to local/community security structures.

He commended ALGON for prioritising the security of lives and property and said the council executives are working to complement security efforts of other tiers of government.

Olabisi also criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke, questioning what he has done with his alleged “statutory” cumulatively security votes running into billions of naira over almost four years, which he said has not translated into effective security improvements at the grassroots.

He stated that APC council chairmen are driving security and development and that the people of the state “haven’t seen anything yet” in terms of the expected improvements under local government leadership.
