Both the title race and the relegation battle will now be decided on the final day of the season after Enugu Rangers maintained their lead, while Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourist were relegated on Sunday.

At the top of the standings, it is a straight shootout between Enugu Rangers and Rivers United.

Rangers have 65 points from 37 matches, while Rivers United have recorded 64 points.

Rangers stayed a point ahead of Rivers United after they beat Bendel Insurance 2-1 at home.

However, the Port Harcourt outfit kept the heat on ‘The Flying Antelopes’ after they won 3-2 at Wikki to effectively relegate the Bauchi club.

For the final day of action on May 24, Rangers face the tougher test as they are away to fourth-placed Ikorodu City, while Rivers United will be at home against Katsina United.

Ikorodu City (58 points) will hope for a home win to topple Shooting Stars (60 points), who face a tricky trip to relegation-threatened Niger Tornadoes, to pick up a continental ticket.

Warri Wolves and Niger Tornadoes have now been sucked into the relegation zone.

Wolves fell by the odd goal at Kano Pillars, while Tornadoes held El Kanemi Warriors to a scoreless draw.

Tornadoes (45 points) as well as Wolves, Remo Stars, Enyimba, Kun Khalifat, all on 46 points each, as well as El Kanemi, Plateau United, and Kwara United, all on 47 points, have not yet been saved from relegation.

Bayelsa United’s fate was sealed after they lost 2-1 at Remo Stars.
