To boost trade and investment, the Federal Government has said it would unveil the 2026 African Global Festival Nigeria (AGLOFEST) in October 2026.
The government explained that the event is geared also to strengthen Nigeria’s cultural diplomacy, economic cooperation and engagement with Africa and the global Black Diaspora.
AGLOFEST Convener, Tunde MacAlabi, pointed out that festival is developed in partnership with the Ministries of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy; Trade, Investment and Industry; and Foreign Affairs.
MacAlabi, in a statement yesterday, noted that AGLOFEST, a partnership project between the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders, is conceived as a major international platform that will bring together leaders, investors, businesses, cultural institutions, creative industry professionals, entrepreneurs, development partners and members of the global Black Diaspora to promote cultural exchange, investment and economic opportunities.
The Convener added that the initiative is designed to position Nigeria as a global meeting point for the African Diaspora while showcasing the country’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, creative industries and investment opportunities to an international audience.
“AGLOFEST will feature three major components: the Black Diaspora Economic Forum (BDEF), which will focus on trade, investment and business partnerships; the Black Diaspora Cultural Presentation, celebrating Africa’s cultural heritage and creative expressions; and the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert, promoting peace, unity and positive global engagement through music and entertainment,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of T-BYK, lauded President Bola Tinubu, for the approval and acknowledged the support of the participating ministries and government agencies involved in the programme’s implementation.
MacAlabi described the presidential approval as a defining milestone in the development of AGLOFEST, noting that the festival was conceived to deepen Nigeria’s economic, cultural and strategic relationship with the global Black Diaspora.
He stated “AGLOFEST was conceived as a platform through which Nigeria can deepen its economic, cultural and strategic relationship with the global Black Diaspora. The October 2026 launch will mark the beginning of a new chapter in positioning Nigeria as a leading global hub for Black cultural expression, investment, tourism and economic cooperation.
“Preparations are ongoing for the October launch, with engagements continuing with prospective international participants, strategic partners, investors, sponsors, cultural organisations and members of the global Black Diaspora.
“The programme is being developed as a long-term international initiative with the ambition of creating opportunities across tourism, hospitality, aviation, transportation, entertainment, creative industries, trade, investment and infrastructure,” he said.
He called on state governments, private-sector organisations, international institutions, development partners, cultural institutions and members of the global Black Diaspora to support the initiative and contribute to its successful implementation.
He added: “The October launch is expected to mark a significant step in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen global cultural engagement, promote economic partnerships and deepen relations with Africa and the global Black Diaspora.”
