Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, has assumed duty as Vice-Chancellor of Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State.

He was recently recommended for the position by the Governing Council of the University, and was confirmed by the University’s Board of Trustees, to replace Prof. William Qurix, whose tenure ended on Monday.

Spokesman of the school, Daburi Misal, in a statement, indicated that the official handover ceremony took place at the newly built Senate Building of the university on Monday, after series of event to celebrate the end of tenure of the immediate-past VC.

Prof. Ayuba, until his appointment, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where he received a Distinguished Service Award for serving meritoriously.

He is a Professor of Biogeography and Environmental Science, and had started his academic pursuit at Bayero University, Kano, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography, and later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, where he earned a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Geography with a specialization in Biogeography.

Prof. Ayuba has received numerous professional trainings from both national and international institutions such as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund); International Quality Assurance in Higher Education Cameroon (ICQAHEA); Global University Network Innovation Cameroon (GUNI); German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD); Germany Rectors Conference, Alexander VON Humboldt Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), amongst others.

Prof. Ayuba is also a member of professional bodies such as the Association of Nigerian Geographers; the Nigerian Environmental Study/Action Team (NEST); the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
