Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos has placed a five-point demand, including the reduction of food prices in the country, before President Bola Tinubu to urgently address towards liberating Nigerians from poverty in the coming year.

He stated this at a press briefing in Lagos yesterday.

According to him, there should be reduction in the price of food commodities. He advised that the government should stop the palliative programme on the allegation that it is a scam.

He also advocated uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours daily, just as he demanded the use of general resources to liberate Nigerians from poverty. He also charged the government to create employment across the country, while the fifth demand was on promotion of mechanised farming.

On Christmas, he lamented that there is nothing to celebrate because of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“There is war in Gaza. They are not happy. Why should we celebrate when we are not celebrating Christmas all over the world? There is no celebration.

“There is destruction everywhere. People are crying in some parts of the world, and we are saying we are doing the celebration of Jesus Christ. What is the celebration for? Even, here in Nigerians,  there is hardship, sorrow, tears, and difficulties everywhere.”
