The bid of presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to become president of Nigeria received a boost on Wednesday as five opposition political parties endorsed him and adopted him as their candidate for this Saturday’s presidential election.
The five parties are Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Booth Party(BP), and Young Peoples Party (YPP).
The governorship candidates and leadership of the five opposition parties made the disclosure during a press conference, hosted by an Ibadan-born billionaire businessman and frontline promoter of Bola Tinubu presidency, Chief Dotun Sanusi, held at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
Sanusi had earlier organised series of rallies in Ibadan for Tinubu to become president of Nigeria, including convergence of the leadership and members of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); Muslim groups in the State; vigilante, hunters, landlords, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC); and so on.
The governorship candidates of the opposition parties that endorsed Tinubu are Olaniyi Ajekiigbe of AA; Mojeed Okedara of AAC; Dr Kazeem Ayandoye of APP, and Tunde Olukade of BP. The state chairman of YPP, Prince Adedeji Adeyemi, who spoke on phone to the journalists during the press conference, was represented by the party’s vice chairman, Chief Adesola Adedeji, at the programme.
They were optimistic that Tinubu’s presidency would unite Nigeria, develop its component parts and usher in greater prosperity for the nation and its people. Tinubu’s agenda for Nigeria, according to them, remains the best in terms of economic recovery, social inclusion, security of lives and property, quality education, qualitative health care delivery, youth and women empowerment and affordable housing for all.
The governoship candidate of AAC, Okedara, said: “I am giving my support to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I have directed my people, our supporters to vote en masse for Tinubu on Saturday because he shares our manifestos in terms of infrastructures, youth empowerment, education, health care delivery and security for all Nigerians.
“The APC leaders have reviewed my manifestos online and they expressed willingness to adopt them in line with the APC agenda to transform Nigeria. So, we are voting Tinubu and Kashim Shettima ticket on Saturday.”
Olukade of BP also said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has fought tirelessly to sustain democracy in Nigeria and that made him to be the most appropriate for the presidency because he would enhance constitutional democracy and rule of law.”
Ayandoye of APP states: “I am a pure Yorubaman and this contest is what Yoruba want because it is our turn. Our support for Tinubu is beyond political party thing and I cannot support any other candidate, except Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because of his verifiable records of achievements. I am urging thousands of my supporters to adopt Tinubu and vote massively for him on Saturday.”
Also, Ajekiigbe of AA, said: “I have also studied his manifesto and saw that it merged our agenda for the state. Therefore, I am urging all our supporters to vote for Bola Tinubu to become the President-elect of Nigeria by February 25th, this weekend.”
The YPP state chairman, Adeyemi, also stated: “Tinubu’s presidency would unite Nigeria, develop its component parts and usher in greater prosperity for our people.”
