… restates commitment to restructuring, revival of economy

Ahead of Saturday February 25, Presidential 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday restated its commitment to restructuring of the country and economic revival.
At a grand rally in Lagos, the party stated that presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa remains the best combination to salvage Nigeria and resuscitate the country’s economy.
The party stated that Atiku has blueprints that will aid the transformation of Nigeria and its economy, even as he is the only one out of the 18 presidential candidates that has committed to restructuring Nigeria.
Addressing the rally at the party secretariat in Lagos, the state chairman of the party, Chief Phillip Aivoji noted that the rally also serves to formerly receive defectors from other political parties into the PDP family.
He described Atiku as a God sent that deserves to be inaugurated as President on May 29, 2023.
“The only zones of the country that have not produced the president of Nigeria are the North East, the south East and the North Central, Atiku is from the North East and he deserves to be President.”
The Lagos PDP chairman further said the former Vice President of Nigeria has all the requisite credentials to turn Nigeria’s economy around.
He further said, “Atiku Abubakar is tested, he helped shaped Nigeria economy when he was Vice President. I am telling you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Atiku Abubakar has a 5-point agenda will bring youths, women and everybody on board in his government. He will bring in investors to Nigeria.
“Atiku believes in devolution of power and the people and he is strengthened by God and I believe that when he gets there the insecurity in the country will be a thing of the past.
“Nigerian youths must support Atiku for their future. Insha Allah the PDP will win the presidential election and Lagos State Governorship Election on March 11.”
On his part, former Minister of Cooperation and Integration in Africa, Dr Abimbola Ogunkelu urged Nigerians to vote for the PDP, noting that Nigeria was at the peak of its economic buoyancy during the PDP era.
He said, “We all remember how Nigeria was under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria was the largest economy in Africa but in the seven and half years of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria has become the poverty capital of the world, Nigeria has fallen from top to bottom.
“If you want a better Niger, you must vote for Atiku and Okowa on February 25, Atiku is the only one of the 18 presidential candidates that has made a commitment to restructuring.
“Atiku will restructure Nigeria and revive the economy, it is important that we vote the PDP to revive the economy and restructure the country.”
On his part, former Chairman of the PDP in Lagos State, Olatunji Shele urged party faithful to be cautious as they go to polls on Saturday and noted that the new bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) has improved the chances of the PDP to win Lagos as rigging has been eliminated.
“February 25 is a day we must take seriously, it is the day the Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold, our Agents must be watchful the BVAS will check rigging.
“We must come out and vote for Atiku, he is a unifier. Nigeria’s economy is in a bad shape, there is high inflation and Atiku Abubakar will bring succour.
“Schools were closed for eight months the APC governors did not say anything, now because the currency was redesigned their governors are shouting.”
The rally was attended by Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, member, PDP National Presidential Campaign Council, who is also chairman of the Lagos State Atiku / Okowa Presidential Campaign Support Groups representatives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, representatives of youth groups, Arewa community in the state and party chieftains and leaders from the 20 local government areas in the state
