President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is slated to declare the Big Sports Dialogue 1.0 open today in Lagos, organisers say.
The dialogue is designed to address pressing issues plaguing Nigerian sports and to reshape the country’s sports ecosystem. It aims to bring together key stakeholders and policymakers to chart a path for a more vibrant and sustainable sporting sector.
Leading voices at the event include: Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the NSC’s Director-General, Bukola Olopade, Philip Shaibu, Director-General of the National Institute of Sports, Mike Itemuagbor, a renowned sports marketing expert
Igoche Mark, prominent basketball promoter, Aderonke Ararobin, seasoned journalist, Rufai Oseni, Arise TV morning show host and Amaju Pinnick, former president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
Additional speakers include: Bar. Chris Green, Commissioner of Sports for Rivers State, Aisha Falode, ace sportscaster and NFF board member
Steve Oshio, Abubakar Lawal, Bashire Are and Ruben Abati, a well-known and respected journalist.
Osaze Ebueku, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, described the event as a “call to action for all Nigerians to come together and shape the future of sports in the country.”
Organisers say the dialogue will feature high-level discussions, policy recommendations, and partnerships aimed at revitalizing Nigeria’s sports infrastructure, governance, funding, talent development, and international competitiveness.
