President Federation Cup: Heavyweights set for Round of 16 showdown

The battle for Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious domestic football trophy intensifies on Friday, June 6, as the President Federation Cup enters the Round of 16 stage with several mouthwatering fixtures across different centres in the country.

Former champions Bendel Insurance will face a stern test against El-Kanemi Warriors at the Goal Project Pitch in Abuja, while Nigeria Premier Football League side Rivers United take on Nasarawa United in Awka in one of the headline clashes of the round.

In another high-profile encounter, Ikorodu City will square off against Enyimba FC in Benin City, with both sides seeking a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

At the Area 3 Pitch in Abuja, Sokoto United will battle Adamawa United in the day’s opening fixture before Kada Warriors and Wikki Tourists lock horns later in the evening.

Bida Lions face Flight FC at the Bwari Centre in Abuja, while Plateau United will confront FC Basira at the Goal Project Pitch.

The final fixture of the round will see surprise package Sunshine Stars U-19 take on Barau FC in Abuja as the young side aims to continue its impressive run in the competition.

The winners of the eight fixtures will progress to the quarter-finals as the race for the 2026 President Federation Cup title gathers momentum.
