The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Oliver Ali Abba has commended Governor Alex Otti for restoring dignity and good governance in the political leadership of Abia State.

Dr. Abba noted that Otti’s policies and successes as governor have become a subject of discourse both at home and abroad.

The Methodist Prelate who was in the State on a routine apostolic visit to Umuahia Archdiocese, made the commendation when he visited the Governor.

Congratulating Otti on his resounding victory in the election, Dr. Abba said the Governor has done well by retrofitting the Abia state healthcare system, reconstruction of strategic roads such Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Ossah Road from the express Tower in Umuahia, as well as payment of salary and Pension arrears in the State.

“I commend you for your achievement in Abia, just under a year you have done marvelously well especially in ensuring that workers and pensioners are paid what they are owed,” he said.

The Methodist Prelate charged the governor to remain upright in all his dealings and courageous to challenge what he described as the old governance order.

He urged Otti not to be afraid to make the right decisions and look up to God for his divine guidance in governance.

Otti responding said his administration has taken bold initiatives in reversing anything that was found not be in the interest of the people of the State.

Otti said he was running a selfless kind of administration that is geared towards the welfare of the people.

He assured he would continue to offer good governance that would benefit the majority of Abia people.

“This is a very selfless leadership in Abia State. Leadership that is oriented towards the welfare of the people of Abia. And we have taken very bold initiative in reversing anything that we find will not be in the interest of Abia people.

“I also listened when you talked about opposition. The opposition will always be there, even in the church we have opposition, but I took note of what you said and that is exactly what we are doing.

“The reality is that they are in the tiny minority, because majority of the people want good governance. And one thing you will go away with from here is that, Abia people will get good governance.”

Otti acknowledged that he may make some mistakes sometimes as a human, but he assured the Prelate that such mistakes when noticed would be corrected immediately and thanked him for the visit.
