All is now set for the 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections in Benue State as the people of the state are ready to exercise their franchise.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that 2,480,131 registered voters would be participating in the elections in Benue.

As at 7:30am, the streets of Makurdi, had already become empty.

All politicians living in Makurdi have relocated to their council wards since last night to perform their civic responsibility.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Omololu Bishi, had told newsmen that over 7,000 security operatives drawn for the police and other sister-security agencies had been deployed for the election.

Governor Samuel Ortom who is seeking re-election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is already in his hometown in Gbajimba, Guma Local Government Area to cast his vote while his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Emmanuel Jime, will be casting his vote at Ndabagi Polling Unit, North Bank Makurdi.

There are unconfirmed reports of original result sheets that are missing in some local government areas but INEC cannot be immediately reached to verify that.
