The Oyo State Police Command has intensified its clampdown on crime in Ibadan with the seizure of substances suspected to be illicit drugs from a residential apartment, even as it probes an alleged case of attempted defilement involving a six-year-old girl.
Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, reportedly uncovered a suspected drug stockpiling operation at an apartment along Abanise Street, Academy area, Olomi, Ibadan.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ayanlade Olayinka, intelligence available to the command suggested that the apartment was allegedly being used to store large quantities of substances suspected to be illicit drugs by one Oluwadamilare Adedayo, a male resident of the area.
He stated that detectives were immediately deployed to the location to verify the information. He added that a search of the apartment and its surroundings reportedly led to the recovery of nine bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 101 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Canadian Loud, as well as other substances believed to be hard drugs.
