The Bayelsa State Police Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a woman identified as Maxuel Ebibraladei by her lover called Tony.
The deceased from Amatolo community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State who had a child for Tony was said to have been beheaded by Tony at Kabeama community in Sagbama Local Government Area.
According to sources in the community, it was the headless body of the deceased that gave Tony away which led to his arrest.
It was gathered that the incident happened over the weekend in the community and was reported to the Police.
While the body of the deceased was evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre mortuary, Tony was detained at the Sagbama Police Station before he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
People in the community are baffled over what could have led the suspect to commit such a gruesome act because he was generally seen as an easy-going man.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Muhammed in an interview confirmed the incident and hinted that the State Command would issue a preliminary statement soon.
