The Cross River State Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged abduction of an 11-year-old boy in Edor Community, Ikom Local Government Area.
The incident was reported at the Edor Police Outpost at about 10:00 p.m. on October 5, 2026, by one Raphael Eyo, 57, who alleged that his son was taken by a 29-year-old man, identified as Abasi John.
Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah in a statement said “the suspect allegedly took the child under the pretext of assisting him to get home safely, but the boy could not be accounted for thereafter.
“When contacted, the suspect was said to have claimed that he dropped the child in front of his father’s residence.
“However, the following day, the father, in company with some community members, visited the suspect’s residence where the boy was found in his room with an injury to the head. The circumstances surrounding the injury are yet to be ascertained”, the State Police spokesman said.
He added that the suspect was subsequently arrested at the Edor Outpost and transferred to the Ikom Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation. He remains in custody pending the outcome of investigation.
He also assured that the Commissioner of Police, Ajo Ordue is committed to protecting children and other vulnerable persons, urging parents and guardians to be vigilant and promptly report cases of missing children.
The case, he added is being thoroughly investigated, adding that further developments would be communicated.
