Security situation in the South East took a dangerous dimension as operatives of Nigeria Police in Anambra State arrested three persons suspected to be insurgents and paraded 27 other suspects for various crimes.
Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, said the command arrested about 30 suspects and made other recoveries between December, 2023 till date.
The CP said twelve persons were arrested for kidnapping, while nine others were arrested for armed robbery and cultism in various parts of the state ,three insurgents were apprehended during the operation.
He further disclosed that two kidnap victims were rescued unhurt, while 11 vehicles and 12 firearms were also recovered.
Mr. Adeoye, who also recounted their success against a gang of gunmen, who attacked and killed two police personnel on December 28, 2023, in the state, said that three of the gang members were killed during a gun battle two days later in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area, while four explosives, two pump action guns, a walkie talkie, handset, and 15 live cartridges were also recovered from them.
He, therefore, reassured of the command’s commitment towards ensuring security of life and property in the state.
