A police officer serving in Borno State, Mohammad Muhammad, has returned N2.6 million transferred to his account by mistake.

The Borno State Police Command spokesman, ASP Nahum Daso said the erroneous transfer happened at about 6pm on Thursday, February 5.

He said the policeman, who was not expecting any funds, was taken by surprise when he received the transfer alert of N2.6 million into his United Bank for Africa (UBA) account.

Daso said the policeman proceeded to call his account officer, who directed him to go to the bank.

At the bank, the police spokesman said, Muhammad was asked to fill a form for reversal of the funds.

Daso thanked Muhammad for showing “exceptional integrity”, saying his conduct reflects the true values expected of a police officer and serves as an example worthy of recognition and commendation.
