…Calls for thorough investigation, threatens lawsuit

Apolice officer serving in Zone 2, Onikan,Lagos, Ifeanyi Onyekwene, has stoutly denied the allegation of attempt to murder, made against him by a certain Kolawale Oluakamo, and strongly stated that the claim was false, absolutely false and defamatory.
Onyekwene said that the said Kolawale Oluakamo published the false and defamatory allegation in pmexpressng.com, an online newspaper. He said that the false allegation caused him psychological trauma and embarrassment.
In an interview with Sunday Sun, he stated that no time did he, whether physically, on the phone or in his dream threaten or even thought of speaking in strong language to him, not to talk of threatening him in way or manner.
While clearly stating and establishing his innocence in a letter written on his behalf by the law firm of Kelly Buluku Chambers, Onyekwene debunked Kolawale’s allegations in their entirety.
Narrating what he said truly transpired over the land matter, the law firm said: “Sometime in February, 2025, our client, after thorough due diligence conducted by him and his Solicitors, purchased a parcel of land for a valuable consideration from the Ajakaye family (hereinafter referred to as our client’s predecessor-in-title), which said land is comprised of two plots, lying and situate at Ijagemo Road, Tailor Bus-stop, Ijagemo area in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State. A short while after the purchase of the land, our client commenced development of the land without let or hindrance, which had gotten to a significant level, until one Kolawale Oluakamo endeavoured to interfere with our client’s legitimate title and grabbed his land through brute force.
“It is our further brief that sometime in September, 2025, our client’s attention was drawn by his workers on the site that the said Kolawale Oluakamo was destroying our client’s on-going construction and building work and materials on the site. Upon confrontation by our client who introduced himself as the owner of the land and a Police Officer, Kolawale Oluakamo told our client that his sister, one Mrs Ibiyemi Iyabode, bought our client’s land from our client’s predecessor-in-title which land, according to him, also included another two plots which were thousands of feet away from our client’s land. Surprised, our client immediately telephoned his predecessor-in-title (represented by Akeem Ajakaiye) and they interrogated Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo on the phone on how he purchased the land, but he could not provide any credible explanation. And so, in a matter of minutes, our client’s predecessor-in-title arrived on the scene and continued their interrogation of Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo, insisting that he present title documents showing that his sister was the actual owner of the land. Unfortunately, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo was unable to present any title documents to back up his claim, ultimately walking away in shame.
“After a while, though, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo submitted a petition against our client predecessor-in-title at the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, wherein he made spurious allegations against our client and his predecessor-in-title.
“During investigation at Zone 2, our client’s predecessor-in-title vehemently re-affirmed that our client was the person that they sold the land in dispute to, insisting that they never sold the said land to Mrs Ibiyemi Iyabode, and demanding that Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo produce any receipts or title documents to back up his claim. Again, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo failed to tender any sale receipt issued by our predecessor-in-title to support his claim.
“However, in a surprise twist, the Police issued an instruction to the parties without an order of Court that no further work should be carried out on the land, which left our client’s predecessor-in-title unsatisfied, causing them to lodge a petition with the Office of the Inspector General of Police at Kam Salem House, Lagos.
“At the office of the Inspector General of Police at Kam Salem House, the extra judicial statement of Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo was recorded after which he was released on administrative bail and asked to report on a certain date. But Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo jumped bail and kept refusing to report to the Police. Instead, around the 23rd day of September, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo stormed our client’s land, accompanied by fierce-looking thugs and started filming the land and the construction work on the land, which drew resistance from Mr. Samson Ajakaiye, younger brother to our client’s predecessor-in-title, who happened to be at the site at the time.
“In the process of an exchange of words, Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo and his vicious-looking thugs pounced on Mr. Samson Ajakaiye with physical blows and punches, resulting in a physical injury to Mr. Samson Ajakaiye.”
Giving further explanations, to set the record straight, and for the sake of emphasis, the law firm said: “It is our further brief that there was never a time that our client conspired with his predecessors-in-title to grab the said land from Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo or his sister, nor was there ever a time that our client threatened or attempted to kill Mr. Kolawale Oluakamo.
“As a law-abiding Police Officer, our client believes in following due process, and not taking the law into his hand. As such, we strongly maintain on behalf of our client that the allegations of threat to murder Kolawale Oluakamo and land-grabbing are grossly unfounded, malicious and designed to tarnish the hard-earned image of our client and that of the family name of his predecessor-in-title.”
In pursuit of the quest to clear his name, Onyekwene said he would institute legal proceedings in a competent Court for substantial redress for the defamatory statements made against him Kolawale
